Smoke and Mirrors – 10 questions we should all ask UJA Federation of Greater Toronto

“I commend the UJA for paying for a full page ad in the CJN to inform the Jewish community as to how they allocate community donations.  At first glance, it looks like they are running an accountable and transparent organization. They do a great job of breaking down categories of recipients and the money allocated towards those recipients. To a ‘lay-Jew’, or the average person with a standing yearly donation to the UJA, this ad fills in any blanks they may have had as to where their dollars end up at the end of the day. To this guy, who has delved deeper into the UJA psyche, it is a cover-up. It is lip-service aiming to silence its growing number of critics. This ad serves as a looking-glass into what is truly important to the UJA and their distorted perception of the Jewish community’s needs.
