Stanford study: America’s Students Are Morons Who Can’t Distinguish Real News From ‘Fake News’
To be fair, it’s not just students and not just America:
Shockingly large numbers of America’s middle school, high school and even college students are stunningly unable to process the media information that sloshes over them on a daily basis, according to a study released this week by Stanford University’s History Education Group.
The Stanford researchers behind the study evaluated 7,804 students from a very wide variety of backgrounds in 12 U.S. states. Some students attended hardscrabble city schools in Los Angeles, for example. Others attended schools in middle-class Minnesota suburbs. Some were enrolled at Stanford, an elite university with an acceptance rate under 6 percent.
“When it comes to evaluating information that flows through social media channels,” the researchers behind the study wrote, these kids today are “easily duped.”

Washington Post Disgracefully Promotes a McCarthyite Blacklist From a New, Hidden, and Very Shady Group
The Washington Post on Thursday night promoted the claims of a new, shadowy organization that smears dozens of U.S. news sites that are critical of U.S. foreign policy as being “routine peddlers of Russian propaganda.” The article by reporter Craig Timberg – headlined “Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say” – cites a report by a new, anonymous website calling itself “PropOrNot,” which claims that millions of Americans have been deceived this year in a massive Russian “misinformation campaign.”
The group’s list of Russian disinformation outlets includes WikiLeaks and the Drudge Report, as well as Clinton-critical left-wing websites such as Truthout, Black Agenda Report, Truthdig and Naked Capitalism, as well as libertarian venues such as Antiwar.com and the Ron Paul Institute.
This Post report was one of the most widely circulated political news articles on social media over the last 48 hours, with dozens, perhaps hundreds, of U.S. journalists and pundits with large platforms hailing it as an earth-shattering exposé. It was the most-read piece on the entire Post website after it was published on Friday.
Yet the article is rife with obviously reckless and unproven allegations, and fundamentally shaped by shoddy, slothful journalistic tactics. It was not surprising to learn that, as BuzzFeed’s Sheera Frenkel noted, “a lot of reporters passed on this story.” Its huge flaws are self-evident.

Fidel Castro Is Dead. This Changes Nothing.
Raúl Castro is in power now. I know this because he is the one ordering the beatings, arbitrary arrests, and torture of Christian women. Castro is the one pocketing 92 percent of the salaries of Cuban workers employed by foreign companies. He has maintained this system and exacerbated its brutality so much that 500 percent more people have risked their lives on the high seas to flee between 2011 and today (Raúl took over in 2008).

The Rockefeller BDS empire, the New Israel Fund, and campus anti-Semitism
The New Israel Fund (NIF) recently received a grant to “research and report on anti-Semitism on U.S. campuses.” On the surface, this appears to be a welcome development—a progressive group being mobilized to confront a major social malady plaguing institutions of higher education.

French TV Bans Smiling Down Syndrome Kids So as Not to Offend Post-Abortive Women
An award-winning video featuring happy children with Down syndrome has been banned from French TV by France’s Conseil d’État (State Council) because it may offend post-abortive women.
The video in question, “Dear Future Mom,” touchingly featured children with Down syndrome of various ages bonding with their respective parents, educating mothers that such children can live a happy life and that they need not be worried.
Apparently, that message packed a little too much “microaggression” for France’s State Council, which determined the video would “trouble the conscience of women who had made different personal life choices in compliance with the law.”
“The law stipulates that only advertising messages or ‘messages of general interest’ be shown during commercial breaks” they said in a statement on its website. “The Council determined that this film does not constitute a ‘message of general interest'” and will likely “disturb women who have had recourse to a medical termination of pregnancy and thus is inappropriate for airing during commercial breaks.”

ISIS plot to attack Israel national football team foiled in Kosovo
Simultaneous attacks by ISIS have been foiled — including one targeting the Israeli national soccer team, police in Kosovo said.
According to a statement issued Thursday, 18 people were arrested in Kosovo and six more across both Albania and Macedonia. Police said explosive devices, weapons, electronic equipment and a drone were recovered.
The suspects, who were planning “synchronized terror attacks,” were rounded up over the past 10 days in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia, police said in a statement Wednesday.

Developer behind ‘Muslim housing project’ in Montreal says anyone with shared values welcome
…non-Muslims would be welcome to move into his project of prefabricated homes, but they would have to share the values of their Muslim neighbours.
“You don’t drive drunk on the street. If you want to drink alcohol, you drink it in your house,” he said. Women could choose whether to wear the headscarf but they could not walk around in a halter-top and shorts.
“There must be some modesty in the way you dress. We don’t want women living there going half-naked down the streets. We don’t like that,” he said. “If they want to do that, let them go and live in downtown Montreal.”

Two-thirds of the world’s internet users live under government censorship: report
Two-thirds of the world’s internet users live under regimes of government censorship, according to a report released today. The report from Freedom House, a pro-democracy think tank, finds that internet freedom across the globe declined for a sixth consecutive year in 2016, as governments cracked down on social media services and messaging apps.
The findings are based on an analysis of web freedom in 65 countries, covering 88 percent of the world’s online population. Freedom House ranked China as the worst abuser of internet freedom for the second consecutive year, followed by Syria and Iran. (The report does not include North Korea.)

Why Historians Must Use Wikileaks To Write The History Of The 2016 Election
Serious historical analysis of the Wikileaks material should yield a Holy Grail of understanding of U.S. electoral politics: How campaigns are organized and financed, the role of dirty tricks and how they are organized, the deals that are struck, the relationship of the media to the campaign, the internal dynamics of campaign teams, and so on. Note that Wikileaks is a one-shot opportunity. No future presidential campaign will operate on the assumption that its antics will remain secret. They’ll be much more careful. Perhaps Wikileaks will have the perverse effect of “cleaning up” presidential campaigns for fear that “dirty tricks” will be disclosed.
Good historians work slowly and carefully. Readers who really want to understand “the unsavory sausage-making” of US electoral politics must exercise patience.

Today in idiot feminazis
Politicians in Stockholm said the policy of “gender-equal” snow removal has failed after the weather brought Sweden’s capital to a standstill last week, with hospitals reporting a fourfold increase in broken bones.
The city switched to a “feminist” system of clearing snow last winter but last week’s burst of snow, which threw the city into chaos, has cast doubt on its effectiveness.
Hundreds of thousands of people were affected, with the majority of bus routes put out of service and commuters having to wait in queues for several hours.
Previously, fresh snowfalls were cleared first from main roads and by areas like construction sites before being removed from pavements and cycle lanes. As men are more likely to drive and women more likely to travel on foot, more women slipped on the ice which led to complaints that the system was sexist.
Vice-mayor of Stockholm, the Green Party’s Daniel Helldén, admitted that “equality snow removal” had failed the city, and apologised to residents who had injured themselves as a result.

SHOCK – Iran Breaches Nuclear Deal – Again
One of the terms of the JCPOA accord, which never had any legal legitimacy and which Iran never signed, is that Iran should restrict the amount of specific nuclear materials it possesses during the nuclear deal. According to a report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), however, Iran has violated the deal by holding more heavy water, used to produce nuclear weapons, than it is supposed to have.

Israel’s Frenemies Sharpen Their Knives In Final Effort To Undermine The Jewish State
The French, with tacit U.S. backing, have once again decided to insert their brand of mischief into the Arab-Israeli dispute. In a final drive to internationalize the conflict, the French are working to undercut Israel by convening an international conference to set broad parameters for a future agreement and extract yet more land concessions from Israel. To cement this nefarious scheme, the formulated plan hatched in Paris would be forwarded to the United Nations Security Council where failed states like Egypt and Venezuela will have their say on the fate of Israel’s future.
In an effort to gain traction for convening an international conference, the French – who are deeply mired with their own domestic problems – have been engaged in a flurry in shuttle diplomacy. France’s Middle East envoy, Pierre Vimont, visited Israel this week and met with two advisers to Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem in an attempt to secure Israeli approval for the French initiative. He was politely but firmly rebuffed.
