WE Charity co-founder said PMO ‘called’ to award $900M student-grant program, contradicting Trudeau

A co-founder of WE Charity claimed in a June 12 conference call that the Prime Minister’s Office contacted the organization directly in April to help implement a federal student volunteer grant program worth over $900 million. WE Charity is set to collect at least $19.5 million in fees to administer the program, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has faced questions over his and his family’s close links to WE Charity and how the contract was awarded.

Trudeau has maintained that the contract was handled by government bureaucrats. But in a recording of a video conference with various Canadian youth organizations obtained by the National Post, WE Charity co-founder Marc Kielburger told attendees that his organization was asked directly by the Prime Minister’s Office to help implement the new Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG) the day after it was first announced on April 22. When asked about the comment Tuesday, WE Charity told National Post that Kielburger “misspoke” and was never in contact with the PMO regarding the grant program. On Tuesday, the PMO also denied asking WE Charity to administer the CSSG.

Iran journalist who fueled 2017 protests sentenced to death

Iran sentenced a once-exiled journalist to death over his online work that helped inspire nationwide economic protests that began at the end of 2017, authorities said Tuesday.

Ruhollah Zam’s website and a channel he created on the popular messaging app Telegram had spread the timings of the protests and embarrassing information about officials that directly challenged Iran’s Shiite theocracy. Those demonstrations represented the biggest challenge to Iran since the 2009 Green Movement protests and set the stage for similar mass unrest last November.

The details of his arrest still remain unclear. Though he was based in Paris, Zam somehow returned to Iran and found himself detained by intelligence officials. A series of a televised confessions have aired in recent months over his work.

Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili announced Zam’s death sentence on Tuesday, saying he had been convicted of “corruption on Earth,” a charge often used in cases involving espionage or attempts to overthrow Iran’s government. It was not immediately clear when the sentence was handed down.

The federal Liberal government announced last week that it had outsourced a student-grant program worth over $900 million to WE Charity, which will receive at least $19.5 million in fees for the work. Trudeau, whose family has worked closely with the WE organization for many years, defended the contract, saying the WE Charity was the “only one… capable of networking and organizing and delivering this program on the scale that we needed it…” But records show this was not the first time the charity received an exclusive contract from the Trudeau government, although it is by far the largest.

India Bans TikTok, Other Chinese Apps Over Security Concerns

India has banned TikTok and other Chinese mobile apps on the grounds of national security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government blacklisted 59 China-based apps, calling them “malicious” tools that “harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens.”

The banned Chinese apps were “prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order,” the Indian government said in a statement. India’s Ministry of Information Technology accused these apps of “stealing” and “surreptitiously transmitting” user data.

Qatar Hired Former CIA Agents to Hack Prominent GOP Official, Lawsuit Alleges

Qatar hired a team of former CIA and U.S. military intelligence officials to conduct a hack attack on a prominent American political activist after he raised questions about the country’s support for terrorism, according to allegations in a new lawsuit.

Republican financier Elliott Broidy alleges that Qatar enlisted former U.S. intelligence officials to carry out a 2018 cyber espionage operation on his personal and business email servers. That information, Broidy alleges, was later leaked to the media in order to discredit the longtime GOP activist and advance Doha’s interests in America.

The suit reveals allegations that U.S.-based hackers affiliated with the Global Risk Advisors (GRA) consulting group were paid by Qatar to carry out the illicit scheme and similar attacks on prominent critics of Qatar. GRA, an American cyber security consulting group, is composed of former CIA and other military intelligence officials with extensive experience in the cyber espionage realm.

Ontario Increasing Oversight of Towing Industry

The Ontario government is establishing a task force to improve provincial oversight of the towing industry. The task force will help develop a regulatory model that will increase safety and enforcement, clarify protections for consumers, improve industry standards and consider tougher penalties for violators. The government is taking this action in response to concerns raised about incidents of criminal activity and violence in the towing industry.

Details were provided today by Premier Doug Ford, Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation, and Sylvia Jones, Solicitor General.

“The party’s over for the bad actors who are engaged in violence and criminal activity in the towing industry. We’re going to keep working with our police partners to bring these criminals to justice,” said Premier Ford. “Setting up this task force will help us bring together experts to develop ways to better protect drivers, operators and inspectors.”

The task force will review a number of topics related to the towing industry, which could include provincial oversight of safety, consumer protection, improved industry standards, training and background checks.

As part of the review, the task force may consider opportunities for increased protections for consumers against the first-to-scene unethical business practices, insurance savings through a crackdown on insurance fraud rings or improved consumer choice for payments and repairs. The province is also reviewing ways to improve our transportation system by clearing accidents more quickly which would minimize lane reductions and reduce congestion on our highways.

“Most tow truck operators in Ontario are responsible and play a critical role in keeping our roadways safe. However, like all people of Ontario, our government is concerned about the recent reported incidents of violence in the towing industry,” said Minister Mulroney. “We are committed to ensuring a higher standard for the tow truck industry and are looking at ways to provide greater oversight of the industry to keep our roads and highways among the safest in North America.”

“When Ontarians are stranded on the side of the road, they need to know their calls will be answered by towing service providers who act safely, ethically and within the law,” said Solicitor General Jones. “The task force will help us determine tougher standards for the industry as part of our government’s commitment to build safer communities.”

Membership of the task force will include representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of the Solicitor General, the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development, the Ministry of Finance and the Ontario Provincial Police. Once the task force has developed proposals for discussion and comment, it will be consulting with industry, municipalities, and public safety experts.

“Since I first tabled a Private Members’ Bill over five years ago calling for better oversight on our roads, the violence and extortion within the towing industry has rapidly escalated,” said Gila Martow, MPP for Thornhill. “I look forward to the seeing strengthened provincial oversight of the tow truck industry so we can keep everyone safe.”

• The Consumer Protection Act contains specific tow and storage services rules to help protect consumers who need a tow or roadside assistance in Ontario. The Ontario government is currently reviewing the Act and consumers can provide input through a survey until July 17, 2020, on a number of issues, including towing.

Yesterday, while praying for peace and unity in our city and the protection of the Saint Louis statue, Black Lives Matter protesters started to harass, berate, and assault the Catholics that were peacefully praying. We did nothing in retaliation. We allowed them to spit on us, call us names, put their fingers in our faces, push us, and antagonize, but we did not retaliate. We continued to peacefully pray. One male then came over and said he would attack myself, one other Catholic man, and a Catholic woman that was there if we did not leave. We continued to pray.

At that moment someone in the crowd poured an unidentified liquid on the older man pictured below in the comments protecting his head, and was then attacked by a violent individual, also pictured below with his arm pulled back about to attack the elderly man. We got the elderly man out of there safely, and I was about to leave to retrieve my lunch as a friend of mine had just come over to tell me my food had arrived, when the mob approached him. They asked if he was with me, and when he said yes they began to berate him. They took his walking stick from him and when he didn’t react they knocked his hat off of his head, called him a skin head, and attacked him. At this point I intervened to pull the attacker off of my friend, and I was attacked by the mob and the attacker. I have a video attached below of the assault.

I will be pressing charges against the attackers. If you can identify anyone in these videos or pictures, please let me know. This can not stand. The police were called 6 times by others on the sidelines and never showed up. The righteous must defend themselves, as the it appears the government no longer is. I hope Donald J. Trump, Mike Parson, Senator Josh Hawley, Senator Roy Blunt, Sam Page, Mayor Lyda Krewson, and other public officials address this, as if not corrected things will only get worse.

A Nigerian Instagram star who boasted online about his lavish lifestyle of private jets, designer clothes and luxury cars has been busted in a $431 million cyber scam, according to a report.

Raymond Abbas, known as Hushpuppi to his 2.4 million followers, was nabbed earlier this month in Dubai for an alleged scheme that involved ripping off credit card information overseas, the Times of the UK reported.

DiAngelo isn’t the first person to make a buck pushing tricked-up pseudo-intellectual horseshit as corporate wisdom, but she might be the first to do it selling Hitlerian race theory. White Fragility has a simple message: there is no such thing as a universal human experience, and we are defined not by our individual personalities or moral choices, but only by our racial category.
