The country’s top court has agreed to hear an appeal on the legal definition of “terrorist activity.”
The appeal was launched by Momin Khawaja, an Ottawa software developer and the first person ever charged under Canada’s anti-terror laws.
He was convicted of five terrorism charges and sentenced in 2008 to 10 1/2 years in prison but Ontario’s highest court later increased his sentence to life with no chance of parole for 10 years.
Ontario’s appeals court rejected the argument by Khawaja’s lawyer that the Criminal Code definition of “terrorist activity” is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court of Canada has also granted the application for leave to appeal of two other men wanted in the United States on terrorism charges relating to the banned Tamil Tigers organization.
Like Khawaja, Suresh Sriskandarajah and Piratheepan Nadarajah are also arguing that because the definition required the terrorist conduct to be performed for political, religious or ideological reasons, it infringes the Charter right to express religious beliefs and political opinions.

Enraged at the paranoia, the dictatorial atmosphere, mutual distrust and outright opposition on board, all Dutch journalists to leave the ship which the Dutch activists seek confrontation with Israeli marines in the Gaza Strip.
According to the four reporters who left, they were censored by the activists, who did not respond to any critical questions, such as the financing of the ship. The money was scraped together by collections in Dutch mosques, as this newspaper revealed earlier.

The Canadian director related how not only is he part of what he calls an “unofficial queer caucus” aboard the Tahrir, but every boat participating in the upcoming flotilla has queers.“This is common sense and human nature,” Greyson said, adding “who knows, maybe when we get back there will be more queers.”

Unfuckingbelievable:
“Children in Gaza released kites on Tuesday carrying messages to residents of Sderot across the border in Israel.
The kites carried messages urging Israel to end its siege of Gaza.
Fourteen-year-old Einas Naim told Ma’an she hoped residents of Sderot would understand the messages.
“I came to send messages to the residents of the neighboring Israeli towns telling them Palestinian children have the right to live in safety like others.
“We hope we can live safely and freely because it is our right to enjoy life free of missiles, bombardment and destruction.
“We fear to go to school in the morning because when we wake up we hear noise of tank shells and missiles fired by Israel forces whenever they want,” she said.”

….beats the hell out of me. These wackos apparently do more than just try to destroy Canadian Jewish owned businesses and the state of Israel.
Here’s the program description; please leave a comment if you have the first clue what they’re doing with your money:

Nir Nachshon, the moving company employee who was extricated from a lynch after mistakenly entering the east Jerusalem village of Issawiya Sunday night, is still trying to digest the harrowing experience.
Speaking to Ynet from his hospital bed he said that “they started throwing rocks and cement blocks right into the car. I realized I was going to die and I started thinking this isn’t the way I want to die.”
Nachshon, 28, was on his way home to Ma’aleh Adumim from the Mount Scopus Medical Center but a GPS device mistake meant that he ended up in the Palestinian village. He was evacuated to the Ein Kerem Medical Center after sustaining light head injuries.
The realization that he was in hostile territory, he said, came “just as I made the turn, I figured out that I made a mistake, but I didn’t realize how big the issue was. This is Jerusalem. This is home.”
Immediately when I made the turn a 12-year-old boy started screaming ‘Jew, Jew’. Each time he called out dozens more people arrived.” That is when they started throwing rocks and cement blocks into the car.
Nachshon recalled how during the lynch he searched among his assailants for “children or young people, I tried to look them in the eyes and find an ounce of humanity in them but all I could see was murder in their eyes.

Military elements monitoring the Gaza flotilla said that radical elements taking part in the sail have said they were planning “surprises for the IDF” and plan to kill many soldiers.
The information suggests that radicals are planning to equip some of the vessels with bags containing chemicals, possibly sulfur, which they will use against soldiers who may try to take over the ships.
BONUS: Prominent members of HAMAS will be on board.
Now can we charge John Greyson, the moronic Quaker pig, Lyn Adamson and the rest of the Sea Hitler nazis with material support for a terrorist organization? Sheesh.

The Hillel Foundation was established in the 1920’s in order to enrich the lives of Jewish students across college campuses in the United States. Present in 500 colleges and universities in the US, Hillel took it upon itself to encourage the students to support the State of Israel.
However, internal political shifts within the Jewish community in the US, and especially the weakening of ties between young American Jews to Israel, have allowed for anti-Israeli voices to penetrate the organization.
This shift has created a paradox: A national pro-Israeli organization under which anti-Israeli activities are being held across some US universities. At times, it means simply turning a blind eye to hostile events; but at other times there is actual and intentional criticism against Israel.

“An alleged North Korean police document reported a case of cannibalism, a South Korean missionary group said Monday, a development, if confirmed, that could support what has long been rumored in the North.
There have been accounts among some defectors of eating human flesh amid chronic food shortages that culminated in a massive famine in the late 1990s that was estimated to have killed 2 million people.
The North has since relied on international handouts to feed its 24 million people.
The North’s police released a 791-page report in 2009 to give guidance on how to deal with criminals, and its preface said the report was based on previous events and possible circumstances.
The report, later obtained by South Korea’s Caleb Mission, provided a rare look into the alleged cannibalism and other crimes, but it did not say whether cannibalism has become a widespread practice.
In one account, a male guard who could not bear his hunger killed his colleague using an ax, ate some of the human flesh and sold the remainder in the market by disguising it as mutton.”

In the 1990s, the National Congress Party (NCP) government of Sudan, then known as the National Islamic Front (NIF), attempted to exterminate the black African Christians, Muslims, and followers of traditional religions in South Sudan and the Nuba Mountains. The militia came obscenely close to accomplishing its goal. Over 2.5 million people died in those regions, and over 5 million were displaced from their homes in the genocidal jihad to establish Sudan as sub-Saharan Africa’s model Arab Islamic state. Now, less than a month before South Sudan officially separates from the Islamic Republic of Sudan and becomes Africa’s 54th nation, ethnic cleansing has begun again in the Nuba Mountains, now known by its Arab name “South Kordofan.”

In 2004, 14 students at Columbia University spoke in front of a video camera to document their allegations about anti-Israel bullying and intimidation by members of the school’s Middle East Asian Languages and Cultures (MEALAC) faculty. With support from the David Project, they created a compelling and controversial film titled “Columbia Unbecoming ,” which caused waves and was followed by an official Columbia University investigation.
Among those professors denounced was Professor Joseph Massad, associate Professor of Modern Arab Politics and Intellectual History. In the film, Massad was accused of kicking a student out of his class for her pro-Israel views and refusing to answer questions from a former Israeli soldier until the soldier stated how many Palestinians he had killed.
Professor Massad was investigated by the university’s Ad Hoc Grievance Committee, which found he had overstepped the bounds of legitimate speech in one instance but did not find basis to the bulk of the charges.
In 2009, he was granted tenure and continues to teach today.
Columbia University is far from the only school where students have complained about anti-Israel bullying in the classroom. According to Professor Sam Edelman, executive director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME), the number of students bearing these complaints is on the rise.
Israel Campus Beat is preparing an extensive report on the questions raised at the juncture of academic freedom, accuracy, free speech and the rights of students and faculty. The Israeli government on Tuesday appealed to Apple Inc. to remove an application called “ThirdIntifada” from its App Store, saying the program glorifies violence against the Jewish state.
Israel’s information minister, Yuli Edelstein, sent the request in an email to Steve Jobs, the chief executive of the American iPhone maker.
“Intifadah” is the Arabic term for two violent uprisings against Israel over the past two decades. The free application encourages its followers to share opinions and organize protests against Israel.
It is linked to a website that, among other things, helped organize violent clashes with Israeli troops recently along Israel’s frontiers with Lebanon and Syria.
“Upon review of the stories, articles and photos published by means of the application, one can easily see that this is in fact anti-Israel and anti-Zionist. Furthermore, as is implied by its name, the application calls for an uprising against the State of Israel,” Edelstein wrote.

Waving goodbye to her grandchildren, Gudrun Burwitz has the look of a woman ready to live the rest of her days in peace and quiet.
Instead, the 81-year-old daughter of Heinrich Himmler still works at a ruthless pace to keep the Nazi flame alive.
Mrs Burwitz has always nurtured the memory of her father, believing the man who ran the Gestapo, the SS and the extermination programme which murdered six million Jews, to be good and worthy.
And despite her advanced years, she continues to help the ageing remnants of the Nazi regime to evade justice.
As the leading figure in the shadowy and sinister support group Stille Hilfe –Silent Help – she helps bring succour and financial help to those still at large.
Said to have been formed in 1951 by a clique of high-ranking SS officers and right-wing clergy in Germany, it exists ‘to provide quiet but active assistance to those who lost their freedom during or after the war by capture, internment or similar circumstance and who need help to this day’.
Now it is in the hands of Mrs Burwitz. And her work has taken an even more sinister turn. She has become ‘grandmother’ to a new breed of female Nazis on the radical right.

The resolution passed with 23 votes in favour and 19 against, with 3 abstentions, including that of China.
Couched in delicate diplomatic language, the resolution commissions a study of discrimination against gays and lesbians around the world, the findings of which will be discussed by the Geneva-based council at a later meeting.
The proposal went too far for many of the council’s 47-member states, including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Pakistan.
Speaking on behalf of the powerful Organization of the Islamic Conference, Pakistan’s ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva said the resolution had “nothing to do with fundamental human rights.”
“We are seriously concerned at the attempt to introduce to the United Nations some notions that have no legal foundation,” Ambassador Zamir Akram said.
Nigeria claimed the proposal went against the wishes of most Africans. A diplomat from the northwest African state of Mauritania said it was “an attempt to replace the natural rights of a human being with an unnatural right.”
